Honoring a Life Dedicated to Catholic Education

Sr. Mary Bernice Pikul was honored by the Diocese of Providence, Rhode Island, with their annual Lumen Gentium Award for her outstanding dedication to Catholic education. Sadly, the ceremony had been rescheduled many times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and Sr. Bernice was unable to accept the award in person - she passed away in April 2021. Sr. Bernice served as principal of Saint Adalbert School, a religious education coordinator, a private tutor and a religious education teacher - preparing students for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion. The bestowing of this award on her is a joyful reminder of her significant contributions to Catholic education.
