Felician Sisters Commit to Laudato Si` Action Platform (LSAP)

Join Felician Sisters on Earth Day 2024 as they commit to environmental stewardship through the Laudato Si’ Action Platform.

On Earth Day 2024, the Felician Sisters of North America reaffirm their dedication to environmental stewardship by pledging their commitment to join the Laudato Si’ Action Platform (LSAP). This commitment, initiated on September 1, 2023, coinciding with the World Day of Prayer for Creation, underscores the Sisters’ unwavering commitment to addressing the urgent call to protect our common home.

Inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical “Laudato Si’ On Care for Our Common Home,” the LSAP is a seven-year journey aimed at integrating care for creation into daily life, particularly within the Catholic community. Recognizing the interconnection between the cries of the poor and the Earth, Pope Francis urges collective action to combat the global environmental crisis.

The Felician Sisters embrace this call to action, understanding the imperative to respond to the simultaneous cries of the poor and the Earth. Their participation in the LSAP signifies a profound commitment to fostering a more just and sustainable world for all.

LSAP offers a structured program centered around seven sectors, each with specific goals aimed at enacting behavior changes necessary for achieving sustainability. It also serves as an interactive platform for learning and collaboration among participating groups.

As part of their commitment, the Felician Sisters are focusing on initiatives including:  adoption of sustainable lifestyles; community engagement and participatory action; ecological economics; ecological education; ecological spirituality;, response to the cry of the poor;, and response to the cry of the Earth.

The Felician Sisters, known for their dedication to serving marginalized communities and promoting environmental stewardship, see the LSAP as a chance to refocus efforts, embrace new directions, and inspire others to join the journey. Sister Judith Marie Kubicki, Provincial Minister, underscores the significance of this commitment, stating, “Each of us needs to take this commitment seriously. This is a unique opportunity to be the change our world needs us to be today.”

The Felician Sisters invite individuals and organizations to join them in their journey towards a more sustainable future. Together, we can make a difference and safeguard our planet for future generations.

Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
