Tree Planting Initiative Lead by Felician Sisters in Kenya

Collaborative tree planting campaign fosters environmental stewardship and sustainable practices in Embu County

The Felician Sisters in Kenya recently spearheaded a tree planting campaign in collaboration with the Justice and Peace Commission Department of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops. As the designated host community, they undertook tasks such as land preparation, tree planting, and ongoing care for the trees at St. Jude Farm, a property acquired with assistance from the Felician Sisters of North America.

Their participation signifies a commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility. By advocating for afforestation, reforestation, and habitat protection, particularly in Embu County, the Felician Sisters aim to contribute to the health of the environment and promote a sustainable future.

Moving forward, they express gratitude for support and welcome others to join their mission. Through collective action, they believe in making a tangible impact on the preservation of our common home.

Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
