Why Become a Volunteer in Mission at Deo Gratias?

Serving at Deo Gratias is more than volunteering— it is an invitation to grow in faith, form meaningful relationships and make a tangible difference. As a Volunteer in Mission, you will serve alongside the Felician Sisters and a welcoming community, accompanying guests through service grounded in dignity, compassion and joy. Through hands-on ministry, you will deepen your understanding of social justice, discover how your unique gifts can bring hope to others and build friendships that often last a lifetime.

Areas of Service

Deo Gratias Café: Serve guests while offering a ministry of presence through listening, learning about the neighborhood and identifying additional needs.

Food Pantry: Stock shelves, pick up donations and assist guests as they select food items.

Literacy Program: Work one-on-one with adults or children to assess and address educational needs.

Community Garden: Plant, harvest and share fresh produce to help provide healthy food to the neighborhood.

Art Program: Engage with guests as they explore various mediums and create artwork.

Programs are currently offered at limited times throughout the week; volunteers play a vital role in helping us expand and sustain this programming

Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
