Cherished 1st Grade Teacher

I had a 1st grade teacher at St. Thecla School in Clinton TWP, MI named Sr. Teresitta. She was a Polish speaking nun and one of the best teachers I ever had. She taught her students how to read at a 3rd grade level by the end of the year, was totally dedicated to her students, and she was the reason I wanted to be a nun as a young child. Although that isn’t the path my life took me on, I think about her all of the time and I am so grateful she was my teacher. She was strict, but loving and I thought she was the most amazing person as a child. I have very fond memories of her and will cherish them for the rest of my life.

Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
