Roberto Clemente, Jr. will speak about legacy, the value of service, and faith, as he reflects on his experience growing up as the son of Pittsburgh Pirates legend Roberto Clemente.

Roberto Clemente, Jr. is a philanthropist, humanitarian, entrepreneur, and former broadcaster and professional baseball player. He has followed in his father’s footsteps, using his platform and athletic talent to serve others and work towards making the world a better place. Clemente, Jr. played professional baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies, San Diego Padres, and Baltimore Orioles, before a series of injuries led to his return to Pittsburgh. He established the RBI Baseball Program, which encourages interest and participation in sports, especially among disadvantaged children. He also established the Roberto Clemente Foundation, which promotes global service leadership, aids at-risk youth, and supports disaster relief.

Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
