Felician Children’s Center Holds First “Moving Up” Day

Preschool and Montessori students at Felician Children’s Center, Jackson, MI, celebrate 'Moving Up' Day, marking their transition joyfully.

The students from the preschool and Montessori classes at the Felician Children’s Center in Jackson, Michigan, celebrated their “Moving Up” Day on June 2 and 3, to celebrate their transition to kindergarten.

After President Tracy Smith Jackson welcomed the families, many of whom have had their children enrolled since infancy, Sr. Mary Victoria Richardson, mission leader at the Felician Children’s Center, prayed for the families. Classroom teachers offered presentations and awards, everyone enjoyed some treats and the children sang songs for their families. Sr. Victoria said, “It was nice to get back to a little normalcy. The families loved the event.”

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system.
