A Reflection on the Blessed Mother

Sr. Mary Johnice Rzadkiewicz reflects on her devotion to the Blessed Mother.

These last days, my thought and reflection took me back to my early childhood days. Our Blessed Mother was always honored during the month of May. For fifteen cents, I bought a fluffy blue ribbon with a medal of the Blessed Mother. Throughout the month of May, I wore her as a reminder of Her love and protection. Songs were sung to Our Blessed Mother, flowers presented to Her for the classroom altar and May devotions held every evening at 7 o’clock. Our Blessed Mother holds a very special place in my heart. Mother’s Day is the perfect day to share our prayer for our Mothers and to continue each day with our Blessed Mother.

Sr. Mary Johnice Rzadkiewicz is the Executive Director of the Response to Love Center, located in Buffalo, NY. To learn more about this ministry, please visit their website.

Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
