In honor of World Day for Consecrated Life, Sr. Melanie Marie Bajorek and Sr. Shannon Fox visited CCD classrooms at St. James in Sewickley, PA, part of Divine Redeemer Parish in the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Both sisters connected with the children by showing pictures of their families. “Does anyone else have brothers?” Sr. Shannon asked a roomful of second-graders, receiving an enthusiastic response from the classroom.
Sr. Melanie brought out Happy the Snowman, a juggling prop composed of 3 decorated leather balls. As she threw each one into the air, she explained to the children that they can choose married, single, or consecrated life for themselves, as they learn to juggle their responsibilities in life. The children gasped delightedly as Sr. Mel kept the balls aloft. After the performance, she and Sr. Shannon, along with the CCD teachers, and their students, said a Hail Mary for vocations. Each student received a pair of sunglasses as a gift from the sisters. “If we follow God, our future will be bright,” a teacher told the children.
Consecrated persons are a gift to the whole church, and everyone can join in praying for them as they respond generously and faithfully to their vocation. If you or someone you know would like to learn more about joining the Felician Sisters, we would ♥ to talk. Contact Sr. Judy at Vocations@FelicianSisters.org or 734-718-0632.
