Annual May Crowning Returns to Immaculate Conception High School

Immaculate Conception High School in Lodi, NJ, honored Mary at their annual May Crowning on Monday, May 3, led by Mission Leader and Campus Minister Sr. Marie Alexander Siegel. According to Sonaliz Morel-Baker, Executive Director of Institutional Advancement and Major Gifts Officer, the May Crowning is a sacred tradition at ICHS.

Senior class members Denise King and Victoria Schiller placed a crown of blue flowers on the statues of Mary. Victoria said, “The May Crowning is a tradition I have watched past senior classes do during my time at ICHS. Having the opportunity to participate in this special tradition was such an amazing experience.”

Anabella Cone added, “Last year, three Felician Sisters received special permission to hold a crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary at the Peace Site of Immaculate Conception Convent. We are blessed to be able to celebrate this momentous occasion today in-person and provide an option to livestream it to the community.”

Dr. Morel-Baker said, “The May Crowning ceremony is a perfect representation of the values and beliefs that we carry at ICHS.”
