Journeying Towards Care for Our Common Home

Read the published the document "Journeying Towards Care for Our Common Home: Five Years After Laudato Si."

On May 31, 2020, the Interdicasterial Working Group of the Holy See on Integral Ecology published the document Journeying Towards Care for Our Common Home: Five Years After Laudato Si. The document stems from the desire of Pope Francis to implement the document On Care for Our Common Home (Laudato Si) and to inspire individuals, groups, and organizations to take action.

The document itself is broken down into sections, each of which contains an introduction to a topic, followed by examples and action suggestions. Areas addressed include human life, family, nursery, primary, secondary, university, catechesis, and life-long communication. Other areas include food, water, energy, ecosystems, seas and oceans, finance and health — just to name a few.

While you may find the document long, the sections are quite short and contain ideas that can be helpful for your personal use, in your work, at your parish, or in sharing with others. I invite you to look at the document index and find something of interest to you.

We are being called to go beyond the call of On Care for Our Common Home (Laudato Si) to moving ourselves and the community forward into action. We hope you will find some of the sections informative and helpful.

Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
