Felician Children’s Center Getting a New Home

Jackson Public Schools' Bennett School provides a bright, spacious new home for Felician Children's Center.

On July 7, with COVID-19 protocols in place, the Felician Children’s Center in Jackson, Michigan, will begin welcoming children and families at their new facility at the Jackson Public Schools’ Bennett School.

Planning has been underway for the move for some time now, and once negotiations with the Jackson Public Schools were complete, CEO Tracy Smith-Jackson worked diligently to ensure that the necessary upgrades, including air conditioning, painting, carpeting and the new playground, would be completed in time for their move.

The new building offers an expanded number of classrooms, a large lot and two multi-purpose rooms. Smith-Jackson spent the months of May and June overseeing everything. She and her husband even accompanied Sr. Mary Carolyn Ratkowski to Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Convent in Livonia to acquire some shelving.

Sr. Victoria Richardson, mission leader at FCC, offered special thanks to “our amazing staff members who come and help in the evenings and when they are not in their classrooms teaching. Together, we are working to create the best environment for the children.”

Sr. Victoria asks for prayer for everyone at FCC and a smooth transition.

The Felician Children’s Center is a ministry of the Felician Sisters of North America located in Jackson, Michigan, that offers childcare and educational programs for children ranging in age from 2 weeks to 6 years old. To learn more, visit their website.

Serving where needed since 1874

Founded in Poland in 1855, the Felician Sisters are a congregation of women religious inspired by the spiritual ideals of their foundress, Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowska, and Saints Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi and Felix of Cantalice. Arriving in North America in 1874 following Blessed Mary Angela’s directive “to serve where needed,” they helped to weave the social service system. Today, the Felician Sisters founded, sponsor or support through the presence of our sisters, more than 40 ministries – all continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the people they serve.
