On July 7, with COVID-19 protocols in place, the Felician Children's Center in Jackson, Michigan, will begin welcoming children and families at their new facility at the Jackson Public Schools’ Bennett School.
Planning has been underway for the move for some time now, and once negotiations with the Jackson Public Schools were complete, CEO Tracy Smith-Jackson worked diligently to ensure that the necessary upgrades, including air conditioning, painting, carpeting and the new playground, would be completed in time for their move.
The new building offers an expanded number of classrooms, a large lot and two multi-purpose rooms. Smith-Jackson spent the months of May and June overseeing everything. She and her husband even accompanied Sr. Mary Carolyn Ratkowski to Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Convent in Livonia to acquire some shelving.
Sr. Victoria Richardson, mission leader at FCC, offered special thanks to “our amazing staff members who come and help in the evenings and when they are not in their classrooms teaching. Together, we are working to create the best environment for the children."
Sr. Victoria asks for prayer for everyone at FCC and a smooth transition.
